A couple years ago a friend introduced me to an amazing vintage Japanese bag called the "BucketOwl". A wireframe, collapsible, cloth transport bucket, they're long discontinued, but it provided the inspiration for the EDC 4.

I chose a sleeker rectangle instead of the near square of the OG BucketOwl, the better to sling over one's shoulder. We eliminated part of the wire frame in favor of stiffer sailcloth, creating an insanely durable, lightweight carrier. It has outside pouches, our standard EDC pencil/notebook pocket, and integral sleeves on either side for laptops, tablets or just flat stuff.

This bag was made for hauling. I've been using the prototype for 2 months now, and it's amazingly versatile for the wide range of random stuff I'm always moving to and fro. I'm planning on keeping 2 of these in my car at all times, right next to the bedroll.
